How to use Manage Dictionary

Guide to managing the onsite search dictionary in Remarkable Commerce Manager, including synonyms, stopwords, redirects, replaces, and fuzzy words.

This page allows you to manually manage onsite search with a variety of tools in Remarkable Commerce Manager.

Tip: Use the sections below to learn how to configure each dictionary feature for better search results.

What You Can Do

Add & Manage Synonyms

Group together words with the same meaning so they behave the same in search.

Set Stopwords

Refine queries by ending searches at certain words to improve results.

Create Search Redirects

Send users to specific pages when they search for certain terms.

Add Replaces

Automatically swap common terms or spelling mistakes for the correct word.

Manage Fuzzy Words

Handle misspellings and help users find what they meant, even with typos.

Synonyms

Add a synonym to group together words that you want to behave the same, as they have the same meaning. Adding a synonym means the synonym follows the same rules as the original keyword.

How to add a synonym:

Navigate to the manage synonym page in Remarkable Commerce Manager.

Click on "Add a synonym".

Enter the original keyword and its synonym.

Click Save to add the synonym.

For example, "blazers" could be added as a synonym for "jackets".

Stopwords

A stopword ends the search query at this word, helping reduce long-tail queries that get no results.

For example, if someone searches for "black and red dress size 18 or 20", the search would stop at "size" and just return black and red dresses.

Redirects

Search redirects are for redirecting a search term to a specific page. See Manage Search Redirects for how to do it.

Replaces

A replace is similar to a synonym, but it is designed to be used for words that have the same meaning and replaces the customer's actual search term. This can be used for common spelling mistakes and brand terms.

Fuzzy Words

The search function is programmed to do this automatically, correcting common misspellings and “guessing” the word you are searching for. You can also manually add spelling corrections such as "lrage" for "large".
