Gift card reports

Sales and redemptions by gift card type — bar chart, filters and CSV export guidance.

This page explains the Gift card reports — how sales and redemptions are attributed to different gift card types, the filters available and the CSV export format.

At a glance

  • Purpose: surface performance by gift card type so merchants can see which card products are being purchased and redeemed.
  • Primary visuals: a bar chart (gift card type vs metric) and a table beneath the chart listing gift card type, count and value redeemed.
  • Controls: a right-hand filter panel with date range and gift card type selectors; CSV export for the underlying rows.

Chart overview

  • Visual: a bar chart where each bar represents a gift card type. The chart commonly shows either count (number of gift cards sold or redeemed) or value redeemed for each type.
  • Axes: the X axis lists gift card types (or the Y axis for a horizontal layout); the measure axis shows count or value.
  • Behaviour: bars are ordered by the selected metric. Long gift card type names may be truncated in the chart but are fully available in the table and on hover.

Typical metrics available:

  • Issued count: number of gift cards sold/issued in the selected range.
  • Redeemed count: number of gift cards redeemed in the selected range.
  • Value redeemed: total monetary value redeemed via gift cards in the selected range.

Filters and controls

  • Date range selector: choose the period to analyse.
  • Gift card type filter: focus on one or more gift card SKUs or product types.
  • Metric toggle: switch the chart between Issued count, Redeemed count and Value redeemed.
  • Export: download chart data or the table as CSV from the top-right menu.

Table and export

  • Under the chart there is a table listing rows for each gift card type with columns such as giftcard_type, issued_count, redeemed_count and value_redeemed. Typical CSV columns:
giftcard_type,issued_count,redeemed_count,value_redeemed
Birthday-Card,300,240,4800.00
  • The CSV contains one row per gift card type with its display name and the relevant counts and totals for the selected range.

How to interpret the report

  • High issued, low redeemed: many gift cards sold but not yet redeemed — monitor redemption windows and consider reminder emails.
  • High redeemed, low issued: many redemptions for an older SKU or promotional cards — check promotion history and fulfilment implications.
  • Value vs count differences: if value redeemed is high but redeemed count is low, a few high-value redemptions are driving the total — check SKU-level impact.

Sample CSV export

A minimal example row from the CSV export:

giftcard_type,issued_count,redeemed_count,value_redeemed
Birthday-Card,300,240,4800.00
