How the Search Works

Learn how search works in Remarkable Commerce Manager, including indexing, search actions, spelling correction, and configurable settings.

The Remarkable Commerce Manager search system is designed to help your customers quickly find the right products or categories. This page explains how search works in simple terms, so you can get the best results for your store.

Quick Start

Want a full overview? Start with the Search Overview page. To change how search works, visit Search Rules.

How Search Works

What does search look for?

When someone types in the search box, the system looks for matches in several places. Here’s a simple summary:

Where it looksExampleNotes
Product Code136583Exact match only
Product TitleBlack Floral DressFinds close matches too
Product Description"A beautiful floral dress"Looks for all words
Facets (filters)Colour: BlackLooks for close matches

If a customer makes a typo, the search will try to find the closest match (for example, “Blak Dress” will still find “Black Dress”).

For a product to appear in search results, it must:

  • Be in stock
  • Be available (not hidden or out of date)
  • Not be excluded from search

Can I change how search works?

Yes! You can adjust search settings in the Search Rules page. For example, you can:

  • Boost certain fields (like product title)
  • Turn on/off fuzzy search (for typos)
  • Exclude out-of-stock products
  • Enable instant suggestions as users type
