Answer Gap

Find the prompts where competitors are mentioned by AI models but your own brand isn't — and turn them into a content plan.

Answer Gap analysis is one of Signal's most useful features for actually doing something about a visibility problem.

An Answer Gap is a prompt where:

  • One or more competitors are mentioned in AI responses, but
  • Your own brand is not

Each gap is shown as a card with the prompt text, its intent category, the competitors who are dominating that answer, and how many responses it's based on. Click into a gap to see full detail.

From gap to content

For each gap, RETA can analyse what's currently winning — for example by reading the competitor pages AI models are citing — and produce an AI-written recommendation for how to close it. This is where Answer Gap analysis connects directly into Content generation.

Heatmap

The Heatmap tab visualises the same underlying data differently: a grid of brands (rows) against AI providers (columns), with each cell showing what percentage of that provider's responses mentioned that brand. Brighter green means a stronger presence.

The heatmap is filterable by brand, minimum mention count, and date range — useful for spotting a provider where you're invisible even though you do well elsewhere.
